A Florida man accused of killing his wife and impersonating the slain woman for a year ambushed his in-laws with a hammer after they began to have suspicions, according to new court records.
Shelby Nealy, 25, was extradited Saturday from Ohio to Florida after authorities tracked him down through a pizza delivery he reportedly made to his in-laws’ home using his phone.
Newly released court documents revealed Nealy killed his wife, Jamie Ivancic, in January 2018 — then used her phone to communicate with her family.
He reportedly sent his in-laws texts and photos of the couple’s two kids, ages 2 and 3, to trick them into believing Jamie was still alive.
But Nealy’s scheme allegedly started to unravel when his wife’s parents grew concerned that they hadn’t heard her voice, officials said.
Nealy confessed to authorities that he took action after they became suspicious, according to court records.
Just before Christmas, Nealy allegedly bludgeoned Richard Ivancic, 71, Laura Ivancic, 59, and their son Nicholas Ivancic, 25. The family’s three dogs were also killed in the grisly attack at their home in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Authorities believe Nealy attacked his father-in-law with a hammer then waited for Laura to return home and killed her in the kitchen.
Nealy allegedly wrapped the two bodies in rugs and put them in the bedroom.
He later killed his wife’s brother, Nicholas, when he came home and fell asleep on the sofa.
Their bodies were discovered on New Year’s Eve — prompting officials to announce Jamie was missing under suspicious circumstances. Her remains were later recovered from the backyard of a home where she lived with Nealy.
Nealy faces three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of grand theft. He’s being held without bond.
