Authorities discovered human remains believed to be a missing 14-year-old boy from Connecticut after he vanished while visiting West Virginia, according to reports.

Jonathan Adams, a West Hartford middle school student, was reported missing last Sunday in Hampshire County, W.Va., where he had been staying with relatives since March, the Hartford Courant reported.

The remains were discovered in a shallow grave Saturday morning “in a heavily wooded area” — and weren’t far from where the teen was reported missing, authorities said.

A suspect has been identified in the death, but the case remains under investigation, news station WCHS reported.

Authorities said that a 16-year-old relative of Adams was arrested and charged with burglary — but it’s unclear whether the case has any link to the boy’s disappearance.
