Humberto has strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic off the coast of Florida and is expected to become more powerful over the next 48 hours.

The weather system was gaining steam about 785 miles west of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center.

“Humberto is moving toward the northeast near 3 mph and this motion is expected to continue through Monday morning,” the hurricane center said.

There were no coastal watches or warnings in effect Sunday night.

Humberto comes about one week after Hurricane Dorian slammed into Grand Bahama and Abaco islands, killing at least 50 people.
