More than 500 children who were separated from relatives at the US-Mexico border are one step closer to being reunited with their families, as a federal judge approved the Trump administration’s latest plan Friday.

The United States promised to locate the parents who have been deported, interview them to confirm their wishes and arrange the children’s travel to their home countries.

The government agreed that reunification will not prevent the children from seeking US asylum in the future.
