The divorced parents of Indiana University football player Cam Wilson were found dead hours apart over Mother’s Day weekend, according to a report.
Police investigating reports of gunshots discovered the wide receiver’s mom, 45-year old Cassondra Wilson, fatally gunned down at an apartment building in Columbus around 9 p.m. Friday, according to news station WXIN.
Cassondra, a prominent businesswoman who founded TrainerConnect, a workforce development company, did not live in the apartment complex, the report said.
Her autopsy determined that she died from a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a homicide, the outlet reported.
Around three hours later, Cassondra’s ex-husband, Troy Wilson, was found dead at an Indianapolis office building, which was about 56 miles away from where she was murdered, according to the report. Police believe he killed himself.
Despite the manner of their deaths, Columbus police Lt. Matt Harris said they have not classified the case as a murder-suicide, the outlet reported.

The former couple leave behind three children, including Cam, who is junior and walk-on receiver at IU, according to the report.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Cam and his family,” IU head football coach Tom Allen said in a statement. “We’ve been in contact and communication with Cam once we learned of this tragedy.”
“He is a tremendous young man, and we will continue to assist and support him in any and all ways. We ask everyone to respect Cam and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
