One person was killed and 13 injured, including a child, in a mass shooting in Toronto Sunday night, the city’s police chief said.
The department tweeted that Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said the slain victim was an adult female, and the young girl who was shot was in critical condition.
The suspect was dead, he said. Earlier reports said the gunman took his own life.
He reportedly was dressed in all black and targeting people in the Canadian city’s Greektown area.
Witnesses told the Toronto Star that the man fired between 15 and 20 shots before ending his rampage around 10 p.m. Sunday.

While at least nine people were hospitalized, local reports noted there was an unknown number of people still being treated at the scene. The victims reportedly were scattered over several blocks.
Witnesses said the shooting sparked a small stampede.
“I thought it was fireworks at first ’cause it was a rapid fire,” John Tulloch told CBC News. “We saw people starting to run in our direction. I still didn’t know what it was and then more people started running.”
