US Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has canceled an overseas trip to instead head to California to meet with people affected by the deadly blazes consuming the state.
Zinke on Wednesday will visit Paradise, the city razed by the Camp Fire, which has killed 42 people, making it the deadliest inferno in the state’s history. He’ll then travel to Southern California, where another fire is raging that has killed two people.
“Devastating reports,” Zinke tweeted Tuesday. “Thinking and praying for all. Stay safe.”
The interior secretary plans to meet with California Gov. Jerry Brown to offer the Trump administration’s support.
He canceled a planned trip to Asia at the direction of the White House to travel to the Golden State.
