A 12-year-old Utah girl has become the target of online death threats after she posted photos of herself smiling next to the giraffe and zebra she and her father had just killed during a hunting trip in South Africa last week.

Aryanna Gourdin and her dad, Eli, went on the excursion to hunt wild game with rifles and a bow and arrow, and the proud young girl then posted the twisted images of their dead prey to her Facebook page, which she dubbed “Braids and Bows.”

Her postings set off a wave of angry responses from commenters, who threatened to go so far as to kill her.

“Literally hope someone skins you,” “makes me wanna kill her,” “do the world a favor and kill yourself already before someone else makes you disappear,” said one commenter reacting to a photo that showed Aryanna grinning while holding up the head of the giraffe she had just killed.

While many of the commenters also called Aryanna “sick” and an “animal hater,” others expressed support for her, saying, “Let the haters hate! Hunt away Aryanna.”

In another image posted to her Facebook, Aryanna is seen with the carcass of the zebra. She writes that it was “one of my dream hunts for sure,” prompting more than 80,000 people to comment.

“It’s something I cherish and enjoy and I want other people to see what I experienced,” Aryanna said Wednesday during an interview with “Good Morning America.”

“They love animals and we love animals, and we also love hunting,” she added.

Her father told ABC that they’re proud hunters and refused to apologize for killing the animals. “I don’t tell anyone else how to raise their kids,” he said, noting that they donate all of their hunting proceeds to conservation.

The father-daughter team has been on several hunting trips over the past five years, but it was the first time that her Facebook photos of their kills prompted such a heated debate.
