Investigators are looking at social media posts from a young Texas couple’s dream vacation to Fiji as they investigate a mysterious ailment that killed them, according to a report.

David Paul, 37, and his wife, Michelle Paul, 35, shared videos from a restaurant during the trip in May that authorities believe may help explain what caused them to throw up for hours and die, news station WFAA reported.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ruled out infectious disease or influenza as their cause of death — and now officials suspect the duo may have been poisoned.

“They have turned their focus to toxins or anything that may have been ingested,” sister-in-law Tracey Calanog told WFAA.

The Fort Worth couple checked into their hotel May 22 on Denaru Island, but within two days had begun feeling unwell, ABC News reported.

“We are both going to doctor now,” Michelle texted her parents. “We have been throwing up for 8 hours. Dave has diarrhea. My hands are numb. We will text when we can.”

Both received anti-nausea medication and fluids for the seemingly ordinary illness, but soon they were gravely ill. Michelle died on May 27, and her husband succumbed to the sickness two days later.

More than a month later, authorities still have not determined their cause of death and have ordered toxicology tests.

David’s and Michelle’s bodies were cleared by the US Embassy this week to be flown home from the tourist destination.

“It’s incredibly surreal that now we’re at their house and trying to heal and they’re not here,” Calanog said. “It’s hard.”
