Investigators are probing potential ties between the deadly shooting at Brown University and the slaying of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor, sources told The Post.

No suspects have been identified in either shooting, both of which took place at or near an elite New England university just two days apart.

An unidentified gunman opened fire at a final exam review session at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, on Saturday afternoon, killing two students and wounding nine more.

Then on Monday evening, MIT nuclear science professor Nuno Lourerio, 47, was shot dead in his $1.4 million townhouse in upscale Brookline, Massachusetts.

The murders took place less than 50 miles from each other.

Cops in Providence have released several grainy surveillance images showing a person of interest in the case, including video of the unidentified man walking neighborhood streets both before and after the shooting.

Here’s the latest on the mass shooting at Brown University

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez admitted to reporters Wednesday that the at-large gunman “could be anywhere,” and Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said they had “zero” information on a possible motive in the case.

Local cops have faced mounting criticism as the investigation to catch the killer has dragged on for nearly a week.

The murdered students were identified as Ella Cook, 19, a sophomore from Alabama, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18, an Uzbek American freshman.

Loureiro was found inside his Brookline home by police responding to reports of a shooting at the address and was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead Tuesday morning, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office announced.

Brookline Police Deputy Superintendent Paul Campbell told WBZ-TV News that Loureiro “had been shot multiple times,” but would not release further details.

The Norfolk County Medical Examiner’s Office did not respond to voicemails from The Post seeking further details. 

Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said the investigation was ongoing and that they couldn’t comment.
