An Iranian woman has died of a suspected coronavirus infection, local media reported.

The 61-year-old woman, who wasn’t identified, died Monday in a Tehran hospital, according to Reuters, which cited a report from the state daily newspaper IRAN.

An investigation has been ordered to officially determine the cause of the woman’s death, the newspaper said.

But a spokesman for Iran’s Health Ministry, Kianush Jahanpour, denied the report.

“There have been no cases of coronavirus in Iran,” he said.

Iran has repeatedly reported no confirmed cases of the virus in the country as thousands of people have become sick across the world.

The virus, known as COVID-19, has killed more than 1,100 people in China and infected more than 45,000 people worldwide.
