The release of the video showing an ISIS butcher beheading Steven Sotloff came as a surprise to the terror group.

The roughly three-minute video was apparently unintentionally released Tuesday, Vocativ reported.

Videos like this and the James Foley killing usually makes its rounds on ISIS forums prior to going viral on the Internet.

“We tried to remove the video after we understood that his was published by mistake, and we are sorry to the followers of the Islamic State,” @Khattabyaz, a Twitter handle linked to ISIS wrote Tuesday afternoon.

The video features a man that appears to be the same masked militant with a British accent from the previous video tauntingly saying, “I’m back, Obama, and I’m back because of your arrogant policy towards the Islamic State.”

After killing Sotloff, he threatens the life of David Cawthorne Haines, a former British military man who had worked for various humanitarian organizations in troubled areas.

He was reportedly captured in 2013 in Syria.
