WASHINGTON — Israel’s ambassador to the United States is stepping down after more than four years on the job.

Michael Oren says he’ll finish his term this fall. The Israeli Embassy in Washington is not commenting on who will replace him.

Oren is an academic who taught at several American universities. He was born in upstate New York but moved to Israel in 1979 and enlisted in the paratroopers brigade.
