The two pretty Italian aid workers abducted by Islamic State fighters last August appeared in a New Year’s Eve video to plead for their release.

“We are in big danger and we could be killed,” Vanessa Marzullo reads from a script while Greta Ramelli holds a handwritten sign with the date Dec. 17.

“We supplicate our government and its mediators to bring us home before Christmas.”

In the 23-second video, the once idealistic 20-year-olds appear significantly thinner and are dressed in black chadors, with only their faces and hands exposed.
