WASHINGTON — The strapped US Postal Service has suffered a setback in its plan to end Saturday mail, as Congress advanced a bill requiring six-day delivery.
The USPS, which lost $16 billion last year, had touted its plan for five-day mail to save $2 billion a year
Congress traditionally includes a provision in its legislation funding the federal government that prevents the Postal Service from cutting days. That measure passed Wednesday.
