It’s so hot in Australia that a man actually cooked meat in his car — and ate it, too.

Stu Pengelly, of Perth, left about 3.3 pounds of pork inside his old burnt orange-colored Datsun Sunny vehicle for about 10 hours Friday — when outdoor temperatures soared to a scorching 102 degrees Fahrenheit, he said on Facebook.

Throughout the day, Pengelly used a thermometer to monitor the temperature inside the car. By 7 a.m. it was about 86 degrees, by 10 a.m. more than 125 — and by 1 p.m. it was like an oven inside, reaching more than 177 degrees.

Once he removed the well-cooked pork, he posted photos of the meat cut into slices.

In video posted by ABC Great Southern, he’s shown picking up a piece with his hands and taking a bite.

“Bit of Texas spice, salt and pepper,” he said in a video shared by ABC Great Southern. “It worked! Go Datsun oven!”

Pengelly said his old Datsun has tinted windows and “a big rust hole” in the roof, which prevents the car from getting as hot as other cars might.

“If this was a later model vehicle & painted black the temperature at a guess could climb significantly higher,” he wrote.

Pengelly says his effort wasn’t just an unusual cooking experiment — but an awareness campaign of sorts.

“My warning is do not leave anyone or anything precious to you in a hot car, not for a minute & if you do see kids or dogs in a hot car, DO NOT HESITATE TO SMASH A WINDOW to get them out ASAP,” he insisted in the post.

Perth is in the middle of a heat wave — in December alone, the city has so far recorded 10 days when temperatures soared above 95 degrees, according to Australia’s meteorology bureau.

Summer Down Under began Dec. 1 and ends Feb. 29.
