“American Idol” alum Jennifer Lopez is on the verge of returning to the hit show after a volatile season with Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, according to reports.

The show will revert to a three-judge format next season, which would team Lopez with returning judge country music star Keith Urban. Will.i.am is rumored as the third judge.

Lopez, a judge in Seasons 10 and 11, is expected to announce her return in the next week or two, Deadline.com reported.
