Treasury Secretary Jack Lew was booed during a speech to a Jewish group in Manhattan Sunday as he tried to defend President Obama’s Iran policy.

Lew, who is an Orthodox Jew, was jeered repeatedly during the event sponsored by The Jerusalem Post at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

“I would only ask that you listen to me as we listen to you,” Lew pleaded with the audience.

“In these difficult times, the president has reaffirmed for the world time and time again that the United States of America stands with the state of Israel.”

As Lew continued to face a barrage of heckling and shouts of “Nonsense” and “[Neville] Chamberlain,” Jerusalem Post Editor Steve Linde intervened, asking for the crowd to calm down, according to Politico.com.
