LOS ANGELES — Baseball has scored a rare hit in Hollywood with “42.”

The latest screen version of Jackie Robinson’s story took in $27.3 million to win the weekend box office, easily topping “Scary Movie 5,” with $15.2 million.

The opening for “42” also set a record for a baseball flick, topping the $19.5 million debut of “Moneyball” in 2011.
