White House adviser Jared Kushner will be aboard the first commercial flight next week between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Kushner, who is married to first daughter Ivanka Trump, helped orchestrate the UAE’s normalization of relations with Israel this month after previously working on an Israel-Palestinian peace plan.
White House National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien, White House adviser Avi Berkowitz and special representative for Iran Brian Hook will also be on the flight, a senior administration official said Tuesday.
The US delegation “will escort Israeli experts from various government ministries on the first direct commercial flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Abu Dhabi,” the official said.
CNN reporter Vivian Salama first reported the trip on Twitter.
The oil- and natural gas-rich UAE, which contains Dubai, is the third Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with Israel. Egypt did so in 1979 and Jordan followed in 1994.
Also on Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo traveled from Israel to Sudan on the first non-stop flight between the countries, though the African nation does not yet have diplomatic relations with Israel.
