Jersey City will begin shuttering a number of businesses beginning at noon Monday to stem the spread of the coronavirus, Mayor Steven Fulop announced on Twitter.
Among those told to close are bars and nightclubs that do not serve food, gyms, fitness centers, barbershops, nail care centers, state-licensed cosmetology shops, movie theaters and performance centers.
Restaurants will not be allowed to accommodate diners but can offer takeout, delivery and drive-thru services.
Also affected are non-urgent medical facilities like dental offices, chiropractor offices and physical therapy clinics.
Grocery stores, cafeterias and nursing homes are exempt.
Fulop said he took the action after Jersey City recorded its fourth case of coronavirus on Sunday.
