Former President Jimmy Carter and his First Lady Rosalynn were caught on camera sharing a New Year’s smooch at the annual “peanut drop” in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.
The snap was taken by Jill Stuckey, a longtime friend of the couple who has hosted the peanut drop — featuring a lit-up cardboard cutout of a peanut — at her home for years. The peanut was decked out in blue lights because Georgia turned blue in 2020, she told Patch.
The photo shows 96-year-old Carter in a car, leaning over for a smooch with his wife, 93, as she pulls down her mask.
“I caught these folks kissing in my driveway tonight! If that doesn’t make your New Year start out right nothing will!! HAPPY NEW YEAR,” Stuckey wrote in a Facebook post.
