The judge who ordered the reunification of families separated at the border said the federal government deserved “great credit” for returning 1,900 kids to their parents, meeting a tight one-month deadline.
At the same time, U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw blamed Trump administration officials Friday for deporting 431 parents, stranding their kids in U.S. custody.
A reported case of a 6-year-old detainee being sexually abused by another detained child in an Arizona shelter drew the ire of Trump critics like Gov. Cuomo.
“The Trump administration created the conditions that allowed this to happen,” Cuomo said late Friday. “This is what comes of using children as pawns in a political fight.”
