Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he is isolating himself after his wife returned from the coronavirus hotspot of Europe and started showing a “low fever” and “mild flu-like symptoms,” according to officials.

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, 44, started feeling sick late Wednesday, shortly after getting back to Canada from a London speaking engagement, officials said in a statement.

The country’s 48-year-old leader is joining his wife in self-isolating at home as they await results of her coronavirus test, the statement said.

The PM is showing no symptoms himself and will continue holding meetings about the response to coronavirus — just “virtual meetings” or by phone rather than face to face, the statement said.

“The doctor’s advice to the Prime Minister is to continue daily activities while self-monitoring, given he is exhibiting no symptoms himself,” the statement said.

“However, out of an abundance of caution, the Prime Minister is opting to self-isolate and work from home until receiving Sophie’s results,” it said.
