It was a day of firsts for Doug Emhoff on Wednesday.

The California lawyer became the nation’s first second gentleman as his wife, Kamala Harris, was sworn in as America’s first woman vice president — and he even got his own @SecondGentleman Twitter account.

Emhoff used his first tweet in the new account to praise his spouse’s historic achievement.

“Wife, mother, sister, auntie… and now, Madame Vice President. Today marks an amazing chapter for you, our family, and for our nation. We love you so much,” Emhoff wrote.

Former second lady Karen Pence’s old @SecondLady Twitter account was consequently shut down, though her old tweets can still be found archived at @SecondLady45.

Twitter switched over the accounts of the president, White House and vice president on Inauguration Day as President Biden was sworn in to reflect the new administration, the social media company said in a blog post.

“Once this archival process is completed, Twitter will transfer the institutional accounts to the Biden administration to assume ownership, along with a new account: @SecondGentleman,” the posting said.
