That was a doggone close call.

A Kansas man allegedly threw his girlfriend’s caged poodle into the Missouri River after an argument between the couple, a report said.

Witnesses at Riverfront Park in Leavenworth saw the poodle toss on Monday afternoon and luckily a few Good Samaritans jumped into action and saved the dog, The Leavenworth Times reported.

The unidentified 24-year-old man allegedly took two other dog’s belonging to the girlfriend – one was left with a relative and a Chihuahua was found loose in a local park, the Times stated.

The man was arrested for animal cruelty after he allegedly tossed the poodle into the river.
