WASHINGTON — Actress Ashley Judd’s early moves toward a 2014 run for US senator in Kentucky got off to a rocky start, with policy stumbles and close scrutiny of her many steamy nude scenes.

National Republicans nevertheless are taking seriously the “Flypaper” star as she revs up a Democratic challenge to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, slamming her yesterday for not living in Kentucky.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee mocked Judd with a Web ad that pretends to solicit donations to help buy her a Kentucky home.

“I know what you’re thinking,” says the fake fund-raising e-mail. “How can a person who has said, ‘Tennessee is home,’ that San Francisco is ‘my American city home’ and that she ‘winters in Scotland’ run for Senate in Kentucky?”
