Police arrested a Louisiana woman for the murder of a 6-month-old boy who was kidnapped and set on fire, according to officials.

Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith, 25, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of Levi Cole Ellerbe, news station WGNO reported.

Authorities haven’t released whether Smith had a prior relationship to the infant.

Police said the boy vanished after two men ambushed his mother Wednesday night at her Natchitoches home. The mom opened the front door for the men but was sprayed in the face with a chemical believed to have been pepper spray, according to officials.

She fled the scene to escape the attackers — only to return to find the little boy missing, authorities said.

She reported the kidnapping to officials, who found him severely burned near railroad tracks about one mile from his home.

The baby boy was airlifted to University Medical Center, but later died from his injuries, according to WGNO.

Smith was booked into Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, where she remains held without bail, according to the Times-Picayune. No other information about her arrest has been released.
