Whether Kim Jong Un is dead or not, the spoof meisters don’t care.
They drove a stake directly into his heart with enough snark and mean-spirited memes to make even the toughest despot cry — or die.
One Twitter user compared North Korea’s tendency for propaganda to the movie “Weekend at Bernie’s.” They photoshopped the possibly-ailing dictator onto a photo of Richard and Larry holding up their dead boss insisting he’s alive, with the caption: “Actual photo released by North Korea showing Kim Jong Un is alive and well.”
“North Korea Reports Kim Jong Un Is ‘Most Alive Person In Universe'” blared a headline on the satirical website Babylon Bee, also mocking the regime.
The conservative operative and Twitter troll know as Comfortably Smug couldn’t resist putting a political spin on Kim’s rumored demise.
“Kim Jong Un wonders why Harambe and Ted Kennedy are welcoming him at the gate,” Smug offered, referring to a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo fatally shot by a security guard who thought the primate was trying to kill a kid who fell into his pen. Not long after Harambe’s death, memes flooded the Internet.
Many more rallied under the hashtag #kimjongundead.
Freelance reporter and Stan Lee biographer Abraham Riesman offered a shot at liberals here at home, in a tweet mocking the potential elevation of Kim’s sister as a victory for feminism.
“Hire more female dictators,” he commanded in a post.
And many imagine the reaction of Kim’s surgeon on learning the news of his patient’s death. A handful showed clips of a guy in scrubs making a mad dash for the North-South border. Another referenced a joke on “The Office,” in which a heart surgeon kills a Yakuza boss in Japan and has to escape to America.
