MADRID — Authorities in the Spanish enclave of Melilla say a knife-wielding man has been arrested after attacking a Spanish policeman at the busy frontier with Morocco while shouting “Allahu Akbar.”

The agent received a small cut to one finger, a spokeswoman with the local office of the Interior Ministry said.

She said the incident happened at 7.35 a.m. at the Beni Enzar access to the Spanish northern Africa enclave, when hundreds of people gather to cross the border. The man, who appeared to be Moroccan, pulled out a large knife and shouted “God is Great” in Arabic, the official said declining to be named in line with internal rules.

He was immediately subdued by police agents, arrested and brought to a police station where he is being questioned.
