Kobe Bryant had taken his wife, Vanessa, for a whirl on a helicopter for a romantic date — despite reports of them making a pact prior to his death to never fly together.

Bryant and his beaming wife were snapped in a photo shared on her private Instagram account in front of the aircraft, with the hills of Southern California and sunset in the background.
The former Los Angeles Lakers player also shared a selfie at the time of the pair from the lavish date.

The 41-year-old Bryant was killed alongside the couple’s 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others when their helicopter went down in Calabasas, Calif., on Sunday.
In the wake of his death, it was reported that Bryant and Vanessa had vowed to never travel together on a chopper.
“He and Vanessa had a deal that they would never fly on a helicopter together,” a source told People magazine, without elaborating on when the pair made the agreement.
