Kriss rap star dies
Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly, one half of the 1990s kid rap duo Kriss Kross, died last night at an Atlanta hospital at the age of 34, said a Medical Examiner’s Office spokesman.
Dumonder Dawson, an investigator for the ME’s Office, said Kelly died yesterday evening.
An autopsy is planned for this morning.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Kelly had been found unresponsive at his home and that the death is being investigated as a possible drug overdose.
Kelly, an Atlanta native, and partner Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith made up Kriss Kross, which was best known for the 1992 hit single “Jump.”
