Laila Ali offered up a Father’s Day wish for the “Greatest Dad” a few years ago.

“What’s hard for me is I feel like he’s trapped inside his body. He can’t do things he wants to do. He can’t say things he wants to say…Most of the time I don’t [feel sorry for him] because I know he doesn’t feel sorry for himself.

“We have a way of communicating without words,” Laila told the Post’s Steve Serby. “I remember I was visiting him at his [Beverly Hills] hotel probably three months ago. Because I’m so busy and he’s so busy, I always feel I have to let him know I care. I only had an hour to spend with him. He walked me to the elevator and I said, ‘I love you dad.’ He smiled, and held up his thumb. The elevator door was closing, and he gave me the peace sign. Right before it closed, he stuck his middle finger up.”

He obviously could also joke without words.
