Bernie Sanders’ brother cast an emotional vote for the senator during roll call at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.

Larry Sanders, 82, the original “Bernie bro,” said that his parents would have been thoroughly impressed to see the momentum of his younger brother’s political campaign.

“I want to read before this convention the names of our parents: Eli Sanders and Dorothy Glassberg Sanders,” said the elder Sanders, who spoke as a member of the Americans Abroad delegation.

“They did not have easy lives and they died young. They would be immensely proud of their son and his accomplishments. They loved him,’ he said tearfully.

Sanders, who lives in Britain, said that his parents “loved the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt and would be especially proud that Bernard is renewing that vision.”

“It is with enormous pride that I cast my vote for Bernie Sanders,” Larry Sanders concluded.

Bernie Sanders got 10 votes from Americans Abroad while Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton only got 7.
