A 10-year-old girl hurt during the gruesome Uvalde, Texas school shooting massacre in May was cheered as a “hero” after being released from a local hospital.
Mayah Nicole Zamora was discharged Friday from University Health San Antonio where she arrived on May 24 in critical condition, according to KHOU.
She was the last remaining patient who was hospitalized as a result of the massacre at Robb Elementary School, where 19 children and two teachers were left to die in their classrooms.
As she walked down the hallways, staffers chanted, “Mayah!” “Mayah!” “Mayah!” The youth, who still has a cast on her left arm, handed out single stem roses to dozens of nurses and staff members and took time to pose and take photos with supporters.
“She is our hero and we can’t wait to see all she accomplishes in the future! #MayahStrong,” the hospital tweeted.

The page said the donations collected will not only go to her hospital bills but also to her future medical treatment.
As of Saturday, the family raised more than $104,000.
