The widow of US Sen. Frank Lautenberg yesterday threw her support behind Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone to fill her late husband’s seat.
Bonnie Lautenberg made the announcement in the parking lot of a Lowe’s home-improvement store on Route 17, calling Pallone a “go-to guy” on environmental issues and a legislator with a lengthy track record of accomplishment.
She also took potshots at Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Pallone’s main rival in next month’s Democratic primary, hinting that Booker’s many TV appearances and celebrity connections won’t necessarily translate into effective governing.
