A Colorado animal rights attorney allegedly attempted to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband’s girlfriend — a woman who had been their children’s au pair.

Jennifer Emmi, 43, of Evergreen was arrested in late January on charges that include solicitation of murder, stalking and retaliating against a witness or victim, the Denver Post reported.

Emmi — who founded a nonprofit ranch called the Animal Law Center — had been locked in a divorce battle with her estranged husband when she allegedly tried to have his new lover taken out.

She allegedly asked a ranch hand, 28-year-old Timothy Lindsey, to help kill her husband’s girlfriend in November, the outlet reported, citing court documents.

In a series of recorded calls, Emmi allegedly asked Lindsey if he knew anyone who could “get rid” of the woman, who had been the family’s au pair.

Lindsey said he “played along” and told Emmi that it would run her up to $100,000.

“Jennifer responded that the money would not be a problem,” Lindsey told investigators, news station CBS4 reported.

Emmi also allegedly weighed the possibility of both her husband and the woman being killed, musing that “if there was a car accident or something, no one would know,” the Denver Post reported.

Lindsey notified Emmi’s hubby and the police following the first conversation with his boss, the newspaper reported.

Following a six-month investigation, Emmi was booked in late January in Jefferson County jail, where she’s being held on $3 million bond, the outlets reported.

Emmi’s attorney, Colin Bresee, said the police evidence suggests his client did not plan to go through with the plot, the Denver Post reported.

“The allegations, at least the way the warrant reads, is she’s understandably upset,” Bresee told news station KDVR.

“She finds out that after sacrificing her body and had three beautiful kids that her husband literally traded her in for a much younger girl.”
