PHILADELPHIA — New York City Public Advocate Letitia James was passed over for any formal role at the Democratic convention.

“I’m sure she would have wanted [one],” said a staffer.

“Do you think there’s, like, too much black-women competition?” the staffer asked, pointing out that various demographic groups have been represented in speaking roles.

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, however, was given a spot onstage.

James endorsed Hillary Clinton in an e-mail to her supporters in April — 24 hours after saying she was still undecided.

But James hasn’t wasted her time. “She’s been going to, like, every party,” said the staffer.
