MIAMI — Fashion designer and Palm Beach socialite Lilly Pulitzer died at her home yesterday at age 81, her company said.

Pulitzer’s tropical print dresses became a sensation in the 1960s when then-First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, who attended boarding school with the then-Lilly McKim, wore one of the sleeveless shifts in a Life magazine photo spread.

She was married to newspaper heir Peter Pulitzer from 1952 to 1969.
