A 12-year-old boy crossing by a hectic Long Island intersection was fatally struck by a young driver in a pickup truck during evening rush hour Monday, police said.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, ran outside of a crosswalk on Middle Neck Road near the intersection of Northern Boulevard about 6:38 p.m. in Flower Hill, an area near Roslyn in Nassau County, authorities said.

He was hit by a northbound 2023 Ford pickup truck being driven by an 18-year-old. The boy was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The driver remained at the scene, and police said they are still investigating the crash.

Several weeks ago, in nearby New Hyde Park, a motorcyclist involved in a road-rage incident on the Long Island Expressway service road was also fatally struck by a pickup truck.

That driver, Brian Noll, 64, of Scio in western New York deliberately swerved his vehicle into the motorcycle of 29-year-old Bronx man Ibis Alex Baez, police said.

The impact left Baez pinned to a guardrail, where he was pronounced dead.
