Eleven middle schoolers on Long Island were hospitalized after eating marijuana gummies doled out by a fellow student Monday morning, according to police and the local school district. 

The students, ages 13 and 14, fell ill after consuming the THC-laced gummies inside William Floyd Middle School in Moriches around 10:10 a.m., according to Suffolk County police. 

The incident drew massive amounts of both police and local EMTs to the school, according to a statement from the William Floyd School District.

Eleven students were transported to local hospitals for further treatment, and another went home with a parent, the district said.

One parent, Jaylee Pereira, told Newsday that neither her seventh-grade son nor his friends were involved in the incident – but the ordeal still worried her. 

“That’s terrible,” said Pereira, 40, of Mastic. “I can’t believe this is going on in the school.”

Inside the school, Pereira spotted alarmed parents arguing with staff members – even a school nurse, Pereira told the outlet. 

“One of the mothers was crying,” she said. 

No additional information was immediately available on how the student obtained the gummies. 

The Suffolk County Police Department said Tuesday morning that officers from its Seventh Precinct Crime Section were investigating the incident, but no charges were immediately filed. 

Police previously said that discipline was expected to be handled by the school district.
