A person was struck and killed by a Port Jefferson train Wednesday morning near the Smithtown station, authorities said.
Investigators believe it may have been a suicide.
The incident happened shortly before 6:45 a.m. east of the Smithtown station and involved a train heading west to New York City, according to an LIRR spokesman.
Service was suspended between Port Jefferson and Huntington from about 6:40 a.m. to 8:55 a.m., and bus service was provided to riders.
