Three rookie cops delivered a baby in a Honda stranded on a Long Island highway during a storm – days after the trio graduated the police academy, officials said.
The Suffolk County officers served as department doulos when they rushed to the side of the Sunrise Highway in Shirley at 6:11 p.m. after a 911 call from a woman in labor, according to a county police press release.

The trio wrapped the newborn in a blanket before EMS arrived and transported the mom and daughter to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Cops and New Yorkers alike have stepped in to help women who have gone into labor at less-than-ideal times and locations.
During the summer of 2023, two Port Authority officers helped deliver a baby boy near the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour.And just last month, two straphangers stepped in and guided a woman through labor on the W train in Manhattan.
