A Louisiana man is in critical condition with coronavirus after doctors misdiagnosed him with the flu, according to a report.

Mark Frilot, whose wife says he’s “never, ever sick,” started experiencing a mild fever March 6 but soon was unable to leave his bed, NOLA.com reported.

When he hadn’t improved, the 45-year-old went to a local urgent care clinic March 8 and was administered a flu test, the outlet reported.

He was told he had the flu and prescribed a regimen of Tamiflu, the steroid prednisone and cough syrup with codeine.

But when his fever didn’t subside, he called doctors back and was told that occasionally happens for patients on Tamiflu, NOLA.com reported.

His health, however, continued to deteriorate to the point that he decided to go to the emergency room, the report said. There, the urgent care clinic faxed over his paperwork, which revealed that he had actually tested negative for the flu.

“I was outraged,” his wife, Heaven Frilot, told the outlet. “How does it happen?”

Doctors agreed to give him a COVID-19 test, which came back positive several hours later, the outlet reported. He’s now being treated in the intensive care unit as he battles both the deadly virus and double pneumonia.

The hospital gave him a paralytic drug, sedated him and put him on a ventilator so his lungs could rest.

“A lot of people don’t get to this point — their body fights it off,” his wife said. “But not everybody.”

She’s now urging people to stay home and isolate themselves after seeing photos of packed crowds.

“It could happen to anybody,” Heaven told the outlet. “That’s all I’m trying to say.”
