A 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl fighting cystic fibrosis was recovering yesterday in her first full day with new lungs.

Sarah Murnaghan, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, received the organ in a six-hour transplant operation Wednesday at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

A federal judge last week ruled she should be considered for lungs from an adult donor. National transplant policies call for kids under 12 to get lungs only from other pediatric donors.

“You want to get those lungs working,” another lung-transplant recipient, Kathi Clapham, 41, told WTXF in Philadelphia yesterday.
