FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The Alaska Earthquake Center says a magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit 43 miles northwest of Fairbanks on Saturday night.

The center says no reports of damage have been received about the earthquake, which was felt in Fairbanks. It adds that the earthquake hit at 7:06 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time and had a depth of 10 miles.

The center says that on Aug. 13 a light earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 struck the state’s Cook Inlet region. That quake, recorded at 10:04 p.m. Alaska time, was centered about 200 miles southwest of Anchorage at a depth of about 82 miles.
