A Maine man has been charged with killing his girlfriend, who was undergoing cancer treatment before she vanished earlier this month.

Jayme Schnackenberg, 39, of Monticello, was arrested and charged on Monday with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 42-year-old Kimberley Hardy, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Hardy, who lived with Schnackenberg at the time of her disappearance, was last seen in New Limerick on the night of June 16, the Maine State Police previously said.

Hardy’s hair was very short at the time of her disappearance due to ongoing cancer treatment, the Houlton Police Department explained.

It was unclear if she had her medication with her when she disappeared.

Her body was eventually discovered by game wardens in a wooded area off Harvey Sliding Road in Monticello, WGME reported.

Results of the autopsy are still pending, the outlet said.
