A gunman taking aim at a rival accidentally killed himself in southeast London when  a bullet “bounced off a car window” and struck him, witnesses said in published reports.

The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of suspicious activity on a street in the district of Sydenham on Sunday afternoon, the department said in a statement, according to the UK’s Daily Mirror.

Shots were heard and a man in his 20s was found with gunshot wounds, police said, according to cops.

He died at the scene.

A witness who lives nearby claimed that the man “came to shoot someone else, but he ended up shooting himself,” the Daily Mirror reported.

“The bullet bounced off a car window. You can see on the car window where the bullet bounced off it,” said the witness, a 56-year-old woman.

“After it happened, the boy he came to shoot stood there filming him.”

A local shopkeeper told the PA news agency that “a group of guys were sitting in a car” when “a big guy came up to them with a shotgun,” according to the site.

“They all got out of the car and ran so the guy decided to damage the car with the back of the gun,” the shopkeeper reportedly said. “As he was hitting the windows, the gun went off and he shot himself — that’s what we’ve been told.”

Police said no arrests have been made.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the incident to call them.
