A man was arrested in Florida for raping a pregnant woman after telling her he planned to “make her have a miscarriage,” police said.

Clifton Dwayne Rushing, 36, was arrested Tuesday in Alachua County, where he lived with the victim and allegedly returned home drunk on Dec. 30 before starting a fight with the woman, who was then 13-weeks pregnant, the Gainesville Sun reports.

During the attack, Rushing punched the woman’s face several times before kicking her and slamming her head into a bathtub, leaving her with a deep gash near her right eye, police said.

Rushing proceeded to bite the woman and then told her he planned to “make her have a miscarriage” before raping her, police said.

Rushing, who remains held at the Alachua County Jail on $510,000 bond, is facing charges of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and sexual battery, jail records show. He’s also accused of withholding child support, according to the Gainesville Sun.
