A California man apparently killed himself by leaping 250 feet from the top of a Hawaiian volcano, according to local reports.
The body of Leo Adonis, born Gregory Michael Ure, 38, was found Sunday at the bottom of the Kilauea volcano, hundreds of feet from the Crater Rim walking trail, according to the Hawaii Tribune Herald.
The man’s heartbroken father told the paper his son “really loved Hawaii” and that he had left a suicide note in his backpack, which was found by hikers Saturday evening.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park spokeswoman Jessica Ferracane said rangers were conducting an investigation into his death.
